Hello!
We are in the process of laying a wooden floor on the upper floor of the house.
The question now that we've reached the chimney is how to make a neat joint.
If you look at the pictures, you can see that the joists form a frame/mould, and the idea was born to cast a concrete "platform" closest to the chimney.

The questions I have now are whether this can turn out well?
Won't the concrete be susceptible to potential movements?
Can you cast concrete directly adjacent to a wooden floor, or should there be some form of joint?
As you can see, the joist protrudes a bit, can you cast level with the floor, that is, on top of the joist?

Wow! That was hard to explain in words, hope you get it ;)
