Hello,

I have plans to build a small wine cellar in a basement space in the countryside. The basement has a concrete slab floor and there is a small window (vent) that can be opened and closed. I will mainly store champagne and port wine.

The idea is to build a "box" and insulate it. I don't want to renovate the entire basement.

My thoughts are really about whether the conditions are as they should be. Or at least OK.

Conditions, temperature:

Summer: 14-16 degrees next to the floor (30 degrees outside)
Winter: A bit of heating and between 4-8 degrees next to the floor (-10 to -25 degrees outside)
Humidity? Normal!

I am building a wooden frame that is insulated in the walls, ceiling, and floor. In the summer, I will remove the insulation from the floor so that the "cold" slab cools a bit more. In the winter, I will insulate the floor for the opposite effect.

Regarding temperature differences

I have read that temperature differences are not good if they are rapid, but that temperature differences that occur slowly are not a problem since there is no pressure increase in the bottle.

Is there anyone knowledgeable who would like to comment on my idea for a wine cellar?

Best regards
