Hello,

We are planning to replace the outer trim, i.e., the piece that covers the gap between the window and the facade:

The problem is that this gap seems to vary, and to get a good idea of the minimum size for windows and patio doors, they need to be removed in advance. The issue is that it would leave holes where rain could get in.

It would probably be okay if new trim were installed the same day, but in this case, it may take a couple of days.

We need to carry out the following steps as I see it:

- Remove the trim
- Measure to see what sizes the new ones need to be
- Purchase
- Apply primer + 2 layers of surface finish
- Install

The guess is that the windows can be without trim for up to 1 week.

How do we solve this?

isn't it enough to take down 1 side board on a window so you can see the thickness and also how wide the brick is (probably 120mm)
then staple it up temporarily again
then you can check how wide it needs to be on the other windows
