The existing stone staircase has been removed, and in the coming days, the shovel will hit the ground in favor of piers. But finding very few dimensioning guidelines regarding porches? Most are about decks. The foundation is probably similar to a deck's, so I am on board with the dimensions there.
We have set our sights on roof tiles in the same color as the house. But roof tiles weigh quite a bit, especially combined with wet snow. The porch will be about 2m deep and 3m wide.
The plan is: 6 pcs 70 piers, 195x45 carrier beam, 45x145 floor joists, 28mm decking
I would like to avoid attaching the porch to the house. So it will likely be a freestanding construction. The posts up to the roof, are 95x95 beams sufficient? 120x120? It says nicely at byggmax that they should not be used as structural timber. Is laminated timber recommended? Is it enough with 4 posts, 1 in each corner, or should you go with 8 posts according to the picture?
Would you dare to put roof tiles on a porch where the roof is supported by 4 pcs 95 posts, or alternatively 8 pcs posts?
The roof area will be about 8-9 sqm, with an estimated weight of 320-450kg, depending on the final size of the roof, roof pitch, and choice of tiles. There is the option of a metal roof, but my better half prefers tiles that match the house...
All input is appreciated!
