I was thinking, as mentioned, of using Biltema's primer + paint. I think that 5mm thick schism that is exposed to the air shouldn't rust away quickly. Therefore, I feel like I can save a bit and use some Biltema products.

5mm takes a very long time before it corrodes through, rust-proof painting will be great.

unfortunately, that part is under the deck and it needs to be dismantled if so. I'll take the lesson with me to the next side of the house. :/
 
If you buy steel that you cut yourself, you must clean the steel before applying primer. Wipe with thinner or T-röd, spray or paint with a zinc-based primer, then the paint you are going to use.
