Building a stand-alone sauna with a guest room. Planning to have finely sawn, white-painted horizontal panels with straight edges on the walls, in a New England style. Considering the same panel for the ceiling (shed roof) but planed and white-painted. Does it fit best with the same width as the walls (145 mm) or is narrower (120 mm) or wider (170 mm) better?

I think 95mm or 85x15mm, I believe it actually is (slätsponten), fits well for the ceiling as the difference is noticeable compared to the other one, as a small difference is often not perceived by the eye...

I like when it's mixed, 95+120+145, but that applies to standing.

170 becomes wide but nice lying down.

Thank you for your responses. Makes sense that you might need to have a significant difference so it's really noticeable. What about different widths? Can you link to an image? I tried googling but didn't find anything. Got a little curious about that.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture. But if you want strictly New England, you should probably have the same width and horizontal. If you want a bit more Swedish-summer-cottage, try mixed.
