I have a regular bathroom threshold that doesn't reach all the way to the tile floor inside the bathroom. The waterproofing layer is connected to the frame and reaches the threshold as it is now (but not shown in the picture). I want to place a threshold strip over the gap. (I will glue it with waterproof silicone and a few small brass spacers in the threshold, tight all around the strip against the floor.)

The question is really how far out to the sides the threshold strip should go? I am thinking it should go all the way under the frame + frame trim and let the trim finish on top of the threshold strip?

Diagram showing a bathroom threshold gap between door frame (Karm 118) and tiled floor. Discussion on extending threshold strip to cover gap.

If you upload a picture of how it looks, I think it will be easier to answer the question. But maybe this is what you're asking about:
Edge of a threshold with tile floor meeting a wooden transition strip by a doorway, highlighting minimal attachment needed for low stress.
This is what the craftsman did at our place.
There aren't any significant stresses on a threshold edge, so it doesn't need to be very secure, compared to a regular large threshold that is attached with 2 screws.

Yes - good. That's exactly what I thought, good that even craftsmen have done it that way.👍 The door and threshold are far away (relatively) from wet zone 1, but will be sealed against the floor and I will place the casing with a small gap down to the threshold strip.
