I will be installing ventilation, spiro, in old ventilation channels in the chimney stack.

Unfortunately, the channels are somewhat too small for 125mm spiro, and I don't want to go down to 100mm.

The channels are vertical, from the chimney straight down to each room. What tools are available to widen the channels? The drop height is about 5m.

The dream tool would be a conical drill that you drop down from the roof into the chimney, which then works its way downward... :)

you could try using a hole saw with diamonds on it (like a tile drill) and then extend with pipes as needed.

I find it hard to believe it would work really well but can't think of anything better.

Hmm, well it will have to be the home-made solution.

But isn't there a professional solution for this?

Why, if it is exhaust air, must you have pipes down the chimney?

FTX, so I guess there should/must be pipes throughout the system. Will talk to the project manager tomorrow, but he has already indicated that 100mm is not recommended.

In total, it involves 4 channels, two supply air, and two exhaust air.

2 to the basement
2 to the ground floor

2 floors + basement.

And extension shaft + substantial Hilti might work, but it gets really wobbly already at about 2m.

There must be some real tool to just drop down the hole?

Take a game with a winch, a wire, a sotarviska, durable burlap, and a threaded bucket suitable use. Crank up the viska through the pipes, apply bruk from above and slide cast.

Sure, but I'm probably not allowed to run an FTX through plastered/cast channels? Dust/deposits are likely to create decent problems for the filters in FTX...
