Shouldn't it be possible to replace the brackets with a steel beam, like an I-beam, running the entire length of the desk about 20 cm from the outer edge? Then you should easily be able to stand an adult on the table as long as the fittings are stable. The beam should also not be visible as it lies a bit inward.

Absolutely, the 6 in 6e stands for 6mm, so any M6 bolt will work fine (and the analysis is correct, the length of the included screws is more for attaching a bracket than going through a stud).

One important thing is to choose correctly between 6E & 6D (single or double plasterboard), do you know if you have single? Otherwise, the recommendation (sorry I'm bringing it up after the fact) is to drill first and then buy...

I bought M6 90mm today at hornbach, that was the longest they had. Meaning 4.5mm goes into the wall. Do you think it will hold?

You mean 45 mm that reaches into the wall, right? ;)

What's important is that they reach the end of the threads when the metal expander is expanded, and I think 45 mm should be enough, but I'm not sure. Did you buy the installation tool as well?

Yeah, why not, I'm not good with steel, what dimension do you think would be reasonable to avoid any significant sagging in the middle?

Hehe, yes 45mm feels more reasonable ;) Yep, I already have the installation tool!

Yes, I have assembly tools from before!
If you want to know for sure in advance and are willing to sacrifice an expander, just expand it "in the air", though you might have to keep track of when there's about 13 mm between the collar and the wings. Then it's just a matter of measuring from the collar to the back end of the thread...

(and if it doesn't work, you can just go buy a threaded rod to make screws long enough)

A 50 mm square tube with 5 mm wall thickness should hold without the slightest problem. It's stronger than the drawbar on many trailers ....

I have made some progress now and have put up the edge. Unfortunately, it wasn't millimeter perfect and I will need to place some sort of spacers in both corners if the board is to get optimal support. Any suggestions on material that is easy to handle? Can you seal?

This is how the result looks. Some modifications remain that I plan to make for smarter cable management.

It looks good, was there any particular reason you didn't choose an even distance between the consoles? Is it in front of each intended workstation?

Broken folding rulers are quite a good spacing material, I don't really believe in a sealant, you'll probably want something rigid.

I use Biltema's Firestarter as a spacer. (Available as a smaller bag, like small paint mixing sticks)

Also recommending these braständarpinnar. They are also significantly cheaper as spacers than folding rulers unless you have small children, in which case you have plenty of broken folding rulers :D

I'm going to have quite a lot of electronics with 2 computers, a TV in the middle, and an amplifier, etc. So I've invested in a sturdy power strip with 10 outlets and surge protection, which will be screwed to the beam in the middle. Hence the longer distance in the middle, so the power strip will fit. I'm also planning to build a small cable channel, I'll get back with pictures of that :)

I'm checking out Biltema's fire starters to see if they work! I also have a masonite board at home that I should be able to use for spacers. Thanks :)

Exactly!
Then you have half a lifetime supply of stirrers for painting projects ;)
I barely used half a bag on an entire house :D
