Hello!

I wasn't sure which category to write in, but I thought this one suited best.

To the point.
I have been extending my house for 1 year now, and with a new entrance, I have extended the roof by 2m extra so I get a veranda under cover.

I have noticed for some time now (since last winter) that I have gotten black mold on the underside of the tongue and groove board over the veranda. This is outdoors, so it couldn't be more ventilated.

One theory I've heard is that I've released humid air through the door when I've opened it, but the new part of the house hasn't even been heated, so I don't believe that.

So why am I getting black mold on the wood outbuilding? It's only bitten into a few boards, too, why is that?

And perhaps most importantly, I'm soon going to put a ceiling on the veranda, do I need to treat the mold with something, and if so, with what?

Best regards,
Henrik

Hi, I guess the attacked boards were a bit damp before you put them up, apply some Barocol and you will stop further growth, remember to apply it even a bit outside the affected area.

...or is it called Boracol? I can't remember off the top of my head...

Hello! Thanks for the answer.

However, the roof was put up in the middle of July last year, and it was very hot and dry, so any moisture that might have been in the boards should have evaporated? I also have no signs of black mold in the attic, above the house, located 1m from the veranda. It is the same roof and was put up at the same time.

I have heard a lot about Boracol and read a bit about it, it seems to be expensive anyway :) And as a private person, it seems you are not allowed to spray it, but maybe you can still do it with proper protective equipment?

Best regards, Henke

It is more humid in the summer than you think....doesn't really matter, it has obviously grown :) I wouldn't spray this agent, brush it on instead!
