Why are facade panels not always standard thickness and according to standard dimensions (such as 45/70/90)?

The Isover facade panel with aluminum that I intend to use is 50 mm (30/80 mm). When repositioning and extending out windows, it becomes a bit tricky, doesn't it? You have to split timber for this, right?

Why do Isover and Knauf among others have this thickness, 50 mm, for facade panels but "regular" stud thickness for standard insulation?

Curious and grateful for enlightenment.

Facade panels shall be installed edge to edge, i.e., not between studs. They also have different width and height formats than stud panels.

But with windows, isn't it inevitable if you're going to move out windows and doors?

No, just use Paroc's hard insulation board that you can screw into, and it won't be a problem.

So, hang the window in the insulation? What type of board can handle this? Is this board also 50 mm?

I was thinking of using Isover facade board 30 alu. This one is actually quite compact, but fastening the whole window into this doesn't seem very sturdy. Anyone (else) who has done this and can confirm the method?

There are brackets and fittings from Gunnebo, as I have similar thoughts since I bought Fasadskiva 30 100 mm for the ongoing renovation. The advantage of these is that you can have insulation directly against the windows, but I haven't found anyone selling these online, from the little I've searched.

I think I'll put studs on the existing frame to attach the windows to, although it will indeed be a thermal bridge.

Nice to hear someone else with similar concerns. Then the problem is not obviously easily solved.

I found something called adjufix, but no direct info on how it is mounted. I can guess, but maybe someone here has experience?

Do you have the link to the console?
Can't find it

Sorry, my mistake to write Gunnebo, it is probably a subsidiary/sister/parent company to Gunnebo, but I can't remember the name. They were referred to as Gunnebo in an old thread here on byggahus.

However, I have not figured out which ones suit my needs yet.

Then comes the big question. Is this much better than making a frame of 45x45 around the window?

Cold bridges vs cost vs strength/functionality?

Richard probably means Simpson Strong Tie, strongtie.se :)

(Owns Gunnebo Fastening)

Here's the board I was thinking of. I've tried screwing into it myself and can confirm that it holds well!

I got interested in essves solution while I was looking around. I'm going to replace the panel on part of the house, so I thought about adding an extra board for some insulation. Currently, I have a plank frame and notice that it's a bit cold inside sometimes. Depending on the wall construction, you can minimize the thermal bridge with that fitting, BUT the frame is still a thermal bridge that can't be avoided with a traditional window frame.
