I was thinking of making a countertop for the kitchen with tiles on it. The question is, what kind of board can be used for tiling? It should be one that can withstand some water and doesn't absorb water.

Does anyone have any ideas?

If you apply a primer before tiling, it should probably stop the moisture that occurs. A 16 mm chipboard should be rigid enough, if you have a cabinet frame underneath, that is...

there are hard foam boards intended for tiling countertops

Thank you for all the answers.

I was thinking, as described in the other thread, to use large granite ceramic tiles that are supposed to be very durable in the size of 30x60 or 60x60. With them, you can also have minimal grout.

However, I am a bit unsure about particleboard, which easily absorbs moisture. What do you think about using form-ply?

"Hard foam boards" might be an alternative, but I have tried to look for them and haven't found what type of boards they are or where to find them?

Formplyfa should work. Don't forget to paint the cut edges.
