Hello,

In the hallway, I will be putting up some larger "knobs" that my partner bought to hang clothes on.

But now to the problem!
In the hallway, there is a drywall.

I'm looking for a plastic drywall plug that can be expanded and then have the screw removed so that the knob can be screwed in.

Are there such plastic plugs for drywall?

Everything would have been fine with the drywall plug I have at home, but as soon as you remove the screw, it gets ruined and becomes unstable.

What I want is to find a plastic drywall plug that can be expanded, where you can then remove the screw to later put in another screw.

I hope someone kind can help me.

/Fredrik

I have personally installed similar knobs, screwing them directly into the plug. But it's strange that yours have such a very short built-in screw, so I understand that it becomes difficult.

Yeah exactly, insanely short.

I don't know how I should proceed to solve this.

If you absolutely can't make it work, have no idea if the tip about Duotec will work, and your wife can return the current knobs, there are for example Muuto's "the dots" which have a more conventional screw length. You can see them in the picture below. It's also a budget question of course, the package below costs a few hundred. Good luck regardless

Box of five round wooden knobs, varying in size, with screws included, placed on a carpet background.

Install Duotec, then you can fasten the knob if it's a 5mm screw.
But that anchor won't hold anyway, will it?

The screw is so short?

Didn't see the picture before I replied. :( That screw wasn't long. :)

Fill & fix with the perfo sleeves included should solve the problem. Drill, insert the perfo sleeve, and spray in fill & fix. Then mount the knob when the compound has cured after a few minutes.

250 kronor for fill&fix - soon cheaper with other knobs ;)

Or try to remove the small screw and glue in a longer one.

It can be removed without problem.
Where can I find ones in the same size but longer?

There are threads on one side so I need to find one that's just as short on the side that goes into the knob and then the other end should be significantly longer.

You can't leave me like that... born curious I am... How did you solve it?

Cut the head off a long wood screw and threaded the smooth part?

Cut the head off a screw for a molly plug and drove it straight in?

Drove in a Molly and removed the screw, then cut off the head.

Fit perfectly in the "knob".

Cheap and stable solution :)
