Well, suddenly there was a crash from the storage room and the console shelf had come off the wall. I had mounted it with a support rail that you then hang the wall brackets on. The rail was screwed in with Molly bolts, resulting in nice big holes when they tore out of our wall. The wall is a plastered 50s construction with reeds/debris/träullit(?) inside. So very porous. My question now is what is best to use when I need to screw things into these walls that need to hold some weight? I suspect I used slightly too short Molly bolts now that I could see how "thick" the plaster was. Probably they expanded inside the plaster itself, which of course made this mounting very weak. But is Molly still the way to go, but in the correct dimension that can expand behind the plaster itself? Or are there other ways to mount things on walls like these?

What's behind the plaster?

Some form of träullit or reed. I'd call it bös.

What's behind the böset?

I actually don't know.. I've never dug that deep into it. But this only applies to the outer walls and we have a plastered facade, so I guess there should be some wooden panel before the exterior comes? Otherwise, it's böset all the way to the exterior plaster. Which wouldn't surprise me, since the house retains heat poorly in the winter.
