Facing a garage build eventually. Planning to build with loose timber because I can't find a prefabricated kit that I want. I was sitting and thinking about screws. For those of you who are experienced house builders, which screw dimensions are most common for a build, the ones you need to have at home? Of course, there are special screws, but that's not what I'm thinking about now, rather the most common types and dimensions. This will be my first big new build, so my experience extends to a number of house renovations and maybe a wood shed type.

Consider buying a nail gun that takes 3 and 4 inch nails instead, there are used ones available for purchase.. Screwing the frame and everything together will become enormously expensive..

Yes, that's an option too. I've actually never thought of that. Good tip. Thanks.

As mentioned, it will pay off many times over, and time-wise, you will save an enormous amount of time...

Nail gun then. Which type would you recommend? Pneumatic, gas, battery. I've looked around a bit. There seem to be different angles on the nail strips. What is the difference and why? 😀

The cheapest option is a pneumatic one if you have a compressor since you will be shooting a few tens of thousands of nails or so...

Compressors are available. I'm mostly thinking about the hassle of having a hose.

But gas-powered ones become expensive per nail, mostly service carpenters who use these..
