Where to buy oak?

Anyone know where you can buy oak by the meter, for example if you want to craft an oak table etc? Preferably in the Stockholm area ;D

Check directly with a wholesaler, sometimes they also engage in retail trade e.g.: Fanerimporten or Fanerkompaniet in Sthlm. Otherwise, they likely know which of their customers are best at selling.

The wood import company seems to have a fast service and like private customers, I received a reply almost immediately to my email inquiry. However, I have no idea what constitutes a "good" price so maybe a little help ???

I wanted a quote for an oak slab with dimensions:

Length 3000mm
Width 650mm
Thickness 27mm

I received a quote for this (the only difference was that the width was 625mm, which was fine for me) which was 2650kr including VAT, and I would have to drive to Hägersten and pick it up myself, about 10 miles round trip.

Is that an ok price? I'm thinking of calling my local sawmill to check since it doesn't seem super cheap, but as I said, I don't really know :

Yes, but that's always the case, living in Sigtuna so all purchases that can't be made locally are always about 80-100 km round trip (Uppsala or Sthlm) ;D

A bit of a disappointing result in my hunt for materials for a coffee table but I'm hoping for Pondus Snickeri, they had rough oak for about 650kr/m2. The other places have basically only offered regular countertops at (in some cases) outrageous prices.

Good range at Pondus but the prices are completely insane. Swedish oak of B-sorting (2nd class) they want 39380 kr/cbm, Beech 24.923 kr/cbm and pine 14.440 kr/cbm.

This corresponds to a price increase of between 400-700%, compared to the wholesale price for slightly larger volumes, like a whole package of 3-9 cbm.
