In my rental apartment, there are traditional built-in wardrobes, a number of 60cm with a clothes rod and overhead cabinets, and a 40cm with shelves like a linen closet. They would fit perfectly in my summer cottage, but where can you find such ones today? In the building supply stores, there only seem to be flashy basket systems like Elfa for exorbitant money and IKEA only seems to have freestanding in various odd formats. Did they stop manufacturing standard wardrobes last century?

I have integrated both Ikea's pax wardrobes and faktum kitchens into niches to form built-in wardrobes.

IKEA has switched to its own standard with 100 and 75 cm wide frames for wardrobes? They also have their own hole pattern on kitchen frames, making it tricky to buy interiors elsewhere. Most other kitchen manufacturers usually offer real wardrobes in 60 cm width in their range, with optional interior fittings as needed. I know HTH does. However, the price often reflects this.
