where in helsefyr can I find alligator plugs (sthlm)
So, these alligator anchors from toggler that are supposed to be so good, where can you actually get them? I've only found one online store so far (skruvnet) and I would prefer to walk into a shop (in Stockholm) and buy them if possible and if it doesn't become much more expensive, it just goes a bit faster plus no shipping costs and maybe smaller volumes...
Hmm, because very few hardware stores have entered the 21st century with the rest of us and gotten decent websites with inventories and pictures, I guess I'll have to call every single one... sigh.
Woody is a bit far just to buy some plugs... Huddinge is the closest, but I don’t have a car at the moment, so that's not an option, but thanks for the tip, it might be relevant if I can't find anything else.

Maybe OT, but damn those plugs are good!

checked wirströms (which are Bolist-affiliated) and they don't have them, the search continues. Thanks for the tip about xl-bygg. However, if I haven't found and bought them by Tuesday at the latest, I'll resort to that website, even though it's a heck of a lot of dowels...
However: if anyone can prove that there are other dowels that are better, i.e., just as versatile and equally or stronger in strength, I'm all ears...

No, I give up. It seems they've given up at some of the building supply stores I called too, they can't get alligator plugs either.
I'm going to set up an Elfa wall-mounted desk plus shelves above on a wall; the desk will be loaded with about 45 kg of home electronics, so there will be some tensile forces... But it's going to be in a corner and will be fastened to both walls.
The wall seems to be brick. The house was built in 1947, I'm getting red powder from the drill hole, but it's tough as hell with my Bosch PSB 700 2RE, feels too tough for brick. Or maybe it's not hollow brick but solid..?
I've got a blue Bosch hammer drill now.
So if I leave the alligator plug since they seem impossible to find here in the capital, and I choose another strong plug: do I need to know if it's hollow brick or something else? That was kind of the point of some sort of stronger universal plug like the alligator.

As usual, I just say Fischer. Check their product catalog to see what you need.
I myself have installed an Efla shelf with five sparring rails in a carrying list with seven (7) UX plugs in simple plasterboard. The shelf had six shelves and was loaded with well over 45 kg.
The shelf was up for three years until we took it down when moving.

Thanks for the tips.
It's true that I've had some bad experiences with 'regular' plugs of the cheap type such as CO's four-variety box, which are completely worthless according to me. And that suspicion has spilled over to 'regular' plugs in general, until I found a rather different model, i.e., alligator.
But of course, if I go with one of the recognized brands like Fischer or Hilti, then more 'regular' plugs should work, for me just as for everyone else...

As usual with plugs, the most important thing is to know what material they will be used in, meaning wall material and construction? Brick? Concrete? Panels? Wood?
EDIT: Brick... Okay, Fischer with an X in the name should work. Not -S plugs but more expensive variants unfortunately. I'll look if I can find which ones I mean...
EDIT2: They're called UX or ?X and are quite large. If it's soft, like lightweight concrete, then you should use those called GB.

We have a brick frame (solid), and for several years I've used these double expanders in dimensions up to 12 mm (see also image):

(After a tip on Byggahus, from Classe of all places, but really a very good plug!)
Unfortunately, they've been discontinued for some year and my supply is running low. Does anyone know where to find similar ones?

had forgotten about this thread. Yes, it went well with those that are in the picture just above. I did put one in every hole of the rail, quite overkill but I like belt and suspenders.
Seems like many manufacturers have their name on what at least looks and feels like exactly the same plug...
