Mostly buy at GS-Bygg, which is closest, even a bit closer than Byggmax.

Located just south of Halmstad, and has very good service and selection.
And usually good prices.
Check out their 26x190 pine flooring for example.

Knots ...

I buy almost everything I need at Karl Hedin, it's quite nearby. But most importantly, I always get good help and friendly service compared to byggmax. Also, for me, there has always been a big difference in quality between the two; I've had to search forever for something straight at byggmax.

XL bygg, used to buy everything at byggmax before but the store in Gävle is now below all criticism

Yes, it's part of the charm of a real solid wood floor :)
And a knot-free solid floor probably won't be cheap...
We laid 70 square meters of such a floor, 8 years ago, and no knots have fallen out.

At a local small retailer. With a little discount, I get prices equivalent to byggmax but they have much better quality on the timber.
Additionally, I have about 5 minutes travel on small roads, so I can overload with a low risk of being caught by the law.

The quality at Byggmax is so-so. But I agree that the most convenient is what's closest.
When it comes to wood products, they have the same supplier as many other major players, but much cheaper.

Nice that you are more worried about the police than your incorrect loading causing some kind of accident...

Yes, but they purchase a lower quality.

We have quite a lot within a mile from home. It ends up being Ekesiöö, Hornbach, Bauhaus, Byggmax, and XL. We get a lot of paneling from Åttersta outside of Sandviken. We've ordered some from Listspecialisten and sekelskifte.
Now there are many projects in the Stugan and then it's Fresks in Funäsdalen. Fantastic store!

If I buy a lot of material and want it delivered to my home, it will be proffshandel Optimera with contact with the internal salespeople beforehand. Not much more expensive and all the timber is almost perfect.

If I'm buying smaller quantities, or shopping on the weekend, then it's Byggmax. But you have to check each board. Jem & fix only when there's a special offer. They're a bit crappelicrapcrap.

No, they don't. It's exactly the same stuff from exactly the same supplier.
When it comes to wood, I should add. For example, gypsum they have an EU-classified variant that is dirt cheap and I, at least, haven't noticed any difference whatsoever. Then they have some own brands that are somewhat mediocre, like the latex sealant, but what can you expect for 9 kronor? Their paint Midun is surprisingly good and, not least, cheap.

Nice to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks that Byggmax is quite okay quality. Super good wall filler too!

I wouldn't use the screws for anything delicate, or in too large quantities (fit bit). The lumber is often very twisted, surely 40-50% is rejected by many. I also use the filler sometimes, but I find it sinks in more than, for example, Fluggers.

P
All boards and planks we make ourselves in the dimensions we want, today we made 200x200 5.40 long beams :) , but panels and other building-related materials are bought at xlbygg.. got great prices there that even beat byggmax prices.. and I always shop as a private person.

You seem to have had bad experiences. When did you last shop? I always pick pretty carefully at the lumberyard, but I haven't found it to be particularly worse at Byggmax compared to others. 40-50% is quite extreme.
