Where do you prefer to buy building materials such as wood sheets and planks or insulation? It has shifted a bit over the years, some have disappeared, today there are two main ones we go to that are nearby for convenience reasons.
Dislike Byggmax and gladly support the local shop, which is also a Woody building trade. They weren't much more expensive when I replaced the roof on the summer cottage, and then I got Plannja "roof tiles" instead of whatever sheet metal Byggmax offers.
I have two Byggmax to choose from, one is hell while the other is really good. There's also a Jem & Fix nearby, terribly disorganized but cheap. There's a small sawmill nearby where it's cheap to buy a lot and you can get profiles that are otherwise impossible to find. There are XL-Bygg, Bolist, Beijer etc. nearby that I use when I want something specific or happen to pass by. But I absolutely shop the most at the good Byggmax.
I have always shopped at Woody.
I chose them several years ago even though they are slightly more expensive than Byggmax and Jem o Fix.
With the discount I received, the difference wasn't as big as I thought.
But since I'm not a carpenter, I value all the help I get when I need it. They are knowledgeable, take their time, and help out.
At Byggmax, my impression is they hardly know the difference between a nail and a screw.
But now, unfortunately, I no longer know where I should shop.
The last time I was there, they had changed their name to Derome.
My account was removed, and I was not allowed to shop there because I was a private individual, so I had to leave empty-handed.
I was simply "kicked out."
It depends on what it is for! Usually, byggmax for studs and rough planks. Floor moldings and things that are visible, hornbach. Is jem & fix cheaper than byggmax?
