It sounds really dumb, but the fact is I can't find it. I have a window area with double windows and need to make a windowsill that is 290cm long and 22cm deep, which I plan to paint white. Planed wood is available in a maximum width of 18.5, glued laminated panels seem to only be available up to 240. Glulam was an option, but it ends up being 5cm thick, which is a bit over the top. Considered countertops, but these were also only available in 250-length except for oiled oak, which was available in 4-meter length for 4000 SEK (a bit too much money to spend on a windowsill). I've been to Hornbach, Bauhaus, K-Rauta, Beijer, and contacted a local carpentry shop; the latter had MDF boards in the right length, but I prefer solid wood. Any suggestions?

A lumberyard?

Not really sure what you mean by a lumber yard, but isn't Beijer a lumber yard? And they couldn't help me. Splicing was their suggestion and I don't think it will look good..

Drive to a proper lumberyard.
Alternatively, ask to have a 45x220 planed down. :-)

The length shouldn't be a problem. Normally, lumber is cut in lengths longer than 3 meters. However, you won't find a 22 cm wide board unless it is specially cut, like Swappe suggests cutting down a 45 mm to thinner. My suggestion is to buy 21*118 which you then glue together and cut down to 220 mm. This will give a significantly better result in terms of shape stability and quality.

MDF, however, is considerably more shape-stable in these widths. ;-)

I got hold of a real sawmill - OlsäterSågen in Värmland! (Admittedly 300 km from here, but what wouldn't you do...) They quickly planed some timber to the right dimensions so now I have my fine plank in place!
Credit to them!
