Hello, I am going to seal windows with a new strip and I was wondering which glue/sealant I should/can use to attach the strips?

Thankful for a response with the exact brand/type as I am not very familiar with construction.

Which molding is it that you should attach?
Silicone is probably what you should use.

Oh, it was an O-list (is that what they're called?) bought at Clas Ohlson

I guess it already has adhesive on it, so you don't need anything to attach it.

But those adhesives are usually so-so, right?

You can fasten it with staples too, it holds better than glue.

Not easy to press the actual slat then and it loses its effect?

It depends on how the trim looks. If it is a U-shaped trim, it may get a bit flat but it will probably fill the gap anyway.

Otherwise, you can use a strong construction adhesive, like PL400 / PU400. Be careful not to use too much, otherwise it may be difficult to open the window.

In any case, as mentioned before, the trim is usually taped and it tends to hold well.

If it doesn't expand again after you've pressed it, you should throw it away/claim a refund and get a new one.

O-list is glued with silicone

Most of Clas Ohlson's sealing strips are P-strips. They are attached with staples in the tongue or glued. Do not use any "strong glue", as it will only cause unnecessary trouble when the strip needs to be replaced next time. And remember to position the strip correctly.

I usually use construction adhesive, maxi bond. It sets just the right amount of hard.

yeah. how does it go when you need to redo the moldings then?

It goes well. I put a thin layer on the list and then it's easy to remove. Sometimes there are remnants left, then I take a plane and remove the rest.
Haven't tried silicone. It might work just as well.
