If you screw the frame together with screws through the sill and into the studs, what surface treatment should you use? I was thinking of using 2-3 pieces of 6x120 or so depending on the stud dimension. I found screws with a yellowish coating at Hornbach, Biltema has a version that is said to meet corrosion class 4, whatever that is, claimed to correspond to stainless steel.

Anyone have tips on surface treatments and where to buy them?

both parts are likely to work very well, it probably doesn't matter much which supplier you choose

many houses have now stood for 50-60 years with only toe-nailed nails holding together the sill and studs

the essential thing is that you have a sill seal or equivalent that breaks the capillary action

in terms of cost and time, you choose a nail gun and framing nails with 90mm, it holds!
