Hello,
Mexitegel house built in '68, we are converting from direct-acting electricity to geothermal heating with radiators and are now preparing the surfaces in one of the bedrooms. The innermost layer of Tretex will be replaced with gypsum, under Tretex there is a wind barrier (?), on the sheathing that runs on the exterior walls.

We need advice on material choice. We want to replace it as it smells old and the whole house has a musty odor.

Grateful for any suggestions and thoughts.

I google and google but can't make sense of it. This paper doesn't seem to have done any damage so we want to replace it with a similar product. What's currently available that corresponds to this paper which is some tarred paper. Does anyone have suggestions?

Wind cloth maybe

wind barrier maybe
Thanks for the reply!
I have spoken with a construction materials seller who thinks it could have served as a wind barrier but that it may also be a vapor brake. He recommended a woven vapor brake. Not plastic anyway. I have also seen wind paper but unsure if putting paper in the wall is good🤷
