Hello all you happy folks!
For some time now, I have been puzzled by increasing moisture in one of the basement walls of my house.
The strange thing was that the moisture in the wall is above ground level.
After some head-scratching, I concluded that the moisture intrusion must be due to a previous
owner running an electric cable on the ledge of the house footing, which sticks out 2-3 cm relative to the facade.
Over time, some moss has grown under the cable, which has caused rainwater to accumulate on the ledge under the cable. Hence the moisture intrusion in the wall.
I have now removed the cable and scraped off the moss from the ledge.
I am now going to apply some form of sealant on the footing ledge to seal it and create
drainage for rainwater. I am pondering over what I should best use.
