I have cut into the wall to install potable water and drainage for the washbasin. I went through the wall in a few places and it feels like I should fill with something before placing the pipe. You can glimpse the outer wall through the holes and between the inner and outer wall, there is a significant air gap. Should I just try to fill the holes with some mortar? What type of mortar should I use then? What do I use to plaster the wall once the pipes are in place?
Grateful for answers.

A wall with large openings made for piping installation, showing gaps through to the outer wall. Debris is scattered on the floor.
