Hello all renovators!
I am currently tearing down the ceiling in the basement and noticed that they have placed asbestos in some areas and I wonder what measures need to be taken. It's about 4m2 that needs to be removed from the ceiling and it is nailed there. Do you need any special protective equipment? Does it need to be packed in a special way, can it be thrown away at the landfill? If anyone has anything else to consider, please share that as well.

A fair amount has been written here about Eternit before. Search for Eternit using the search function and you shall find. A quick summary:
1) DO NOT inhale the dust.
2) It can be disposed of at the dump. Most dumps require that it be packed in double plastic bags and marked with Asbestos. Call and check what applies at your dump.
3) It is not dangerous where it sits. It is only the dust that is dangerous.
