I plan to build my own box beams with OSB, studs, PU glue, and nails. I want to use C24 grade studs, and due to availability, it's easier to buy 45x145 and split into two equally sized studs compared to buying 45x70 in C24 grade. The question is whether the two studs resulting from splitting a 45x145 C24 are also considered to meet C24?

Can't see why the class would change after splitting, it would be if one part then contains significantly more knots, which in that case weakens the rule - but otherwise not.

Yes, that's how I reasoned myself, but I'm not entirely familiar with how the quality assessment is evaluated.

The new dimension does not inherit the classification. It must be reclassified. However, it will likely achieve the same classification.

An example: A knot in the middle of a beam essentially does not affect the strength at all. If you split the beam, it ends up on the edge and affects it quite a bit.
