The neighbor and I are going to build a common fence on the property line and I'm a bit unsure about how thick the posts should be. We have drilled holes for footings at cc 120, so the posts will be fairly close together. The total height of the fence will be about 180cm. Do you think a 70x70 post is sufficient or should we go up to 95x95?

For purely aesthetic reasons, we would probably prefer to stay at 70x70, but we don't want the fence to sway or, even worse, break when the wind hits.

Is it fully covered?

No, it will be fence slats of 28x45 overlapping on each side so that it becomes opaque. Kind of like in this picture.

Opaque wooden slatted fence with overlapping 28x45 boards, providing privacy, set on a gravel base with grass and trees in the background.

Since your fence is not going to be covered, I see no problem at all with building with a 70x70 post. On my fence (see image), I used 95x95 (I think), but that is almost completely covered. If you are worried that it will sway, it is more important that you anchor them well; the plinths should not be able to move! A backyard with a red wooden fence featuring a 95x95 post design, partially hidden behind plants, a trash can on a wooden platform, and a red house in the background.

70x70 will be enough and use plintjärn and not post shoes otherwise it will be wobbly no matter what you do...

Alright. Then we'll go with 70-posts.
We plan to use plintjärn specifically for stability.

I might follow up with another question.
We're planning to pour the footings on Saturday, and my neighbor would like to start building the fence already on Sunday. My instinct is that the concrete should cure a little longer to become really strong and not risk cracking. Do you have any opinions about that?

Hello
I'm going to build a fence similar to yours.
Why is it mixed painted and pressure-treated?
Would you mind taking a few more pictures and uploading them?
Regards
Johan
