Currently tearing down our kitchen, house built in 1933, kitchen replaced in 2003.
Behind one of the kitchen cabinets, I found a thin (1-2 mm) plaster-like board, in what looks like plaster there is a shimmering/glittering layer, what kind of material could this be?

Not sure if it's visible in the photo, look at the white edge of the small "plaster piece".
. Close-up of a wall section showing peeling layers, including a thin, white plinth-like piece with a shimmering layer, possibly gypsum or fibrous board.

It almost looks like it's a paint with glitter in it, strange
