What is this material called and what type of plug and screw is best for this material?

I always find it difficult to drill into, as it easily drifts away and/or the hole becomes too large. And neither the plug nor the screw holds well afterwards.

I always find it difficult to drill into because it easily veers off and/or creates a hole that's too big. And neither the plug nor screw fits well afterwards.
Perhaps the combination of a smaller drill and a larger screw might work?

Some recommend aerated concrete screws/LECA screws, while others advocate for plugs and screws.

If I use aerated concrete screws, apparently you should not pre-drill, but just drive the screw straight into the LECA block. Alternatively, pre-drill the beam. What do you think?

I have not tried lättbetongskruv.

But when I've had trouble getting the plug to attach in a stone material hole, I've often filled it with husfix and then pressed the plug in.
Let it harden and insert the screw.
