I've torn down an interior wall in the basement and found this material under the plaster on a part of the wall.
It feels like wood chips mixed with clay. I'm going to sand down all the paint and will probably have to replaster the entire basement, but the question is what it is and whether I should remove all of this (around one meter) and replaster completely or if it should remain and I should just patch plaster (depending on how much plaster comes off when the paint is removed).
What did people do without this forum! I googled Träullit and it seems to have its advantages, to say the least. Thanks for the answer, I will try not to tear down too much plaster when removing the paint. To be on the safe side, I will knock away the plaster at the bottom near the floor in some places to see if the Träullit looks okay since it is mounted on a previously moisture-exposed wall and has had plastic paint on the inside.
