Hello,

I am in the process of planning the spring conservatory construction. In the front, I will have 2 pieces of 90x90 posts that should support the front beam of 45x225. I now want to notch the posts so that I can nicely place the front beam.

How do I do this best? Are there any good tools for this? A saw + chisel feels like it might become notchy and ugly?

Thanks in advance!

I use the miter saw + height adjustment when I do that.

Otherwise, a regular circular saw will work fine. Set the depth to 45 mm and make many cuts (a couple of centimeters apart). Then break away and tidy up with a chisel.

Larsa, absolutely! I should have added that. d^_^b

Screwing and gluing together two 45x95s of different lengths worked for me. Less risk of cracks too.

Going to build in Glulam and those dimensions don't seem to exist.

I used a circular saw and made many cuts and knocked off the pieces in between.
Worked fine. :)

Otherwise, if you have patience, you can saw along the fibers with a regular handsaw, so you don't have to stand and chisel with a chisel.

Tigersåg works with that too....

Now it's probably just chainsaw and pentyl cord left?

A good hand saw and a sharp chisel along with a bit of feeling in the fingers.

If you want it really nice and it's specifically limträ, then a bandsaw is not a bad choice. I took two posts on the trailer and went to a carpentry shop where they sawed it to the millimeter.
