Isn't it that it is self-countersinking? That is, there are cutting edges under the head that counterbore the screw.
 
That's a thought, but it fits quite a few types of screws. Do you mean that, for example, a decking screw is a hobauscrew?

What differentiates Essve's Hobaus screw from their regular drywall screw is that it has a TX recess instead of Ph2.

It is not clear why it is not called a chipboard screw or if there is anything other than the drive that differentiates it, but "It works to screw OSB to wood with," which is enough for me; I've grown tired of PH2.

Does it matter much that the screw is yellow instead of white? Does Hubbe2 know if the Hobau screw has a cutting tip?
