Unfortunately, I don't know the name of this type of special screw, but I'm attaching a link that might be useful to someone when discussing screws otherwise.

If you can imagine a skull with torx, then the screw is not entirely unlike an anchor screw from Byggmax. But just like the screw in the picture, you need to pre-drill if you're going to use it for a shelf, as the screw splits quite well with the thick material at the top.
Reminds me a bit of the furniture screws that come with many IKEA furniture. They usually have hex. At Classe, they are called connecting screws:
