As the title.

the gypsum is brittle, no more water is coming in.

so should I pull down the ceiling to ensure drying, and settle for that. Or does the entire gypsum board need to be replaced? Opinions?

  • Water-damaged ceiling and stained drywall corner with peeling sections, indicating potential need for replacement or repair to ensure proper drying.
replace the plaster that is moisture-damaged

yep, first consulted with the neighbor (wall between our garages/storage connected to the house) then insurance company.

Document, demolish, document, fix, document.

send in all pictures, deductible 1800 kronor.

Doesn't the insurance company have an opinion on how much is being torn out?
They should be eager to ensure that everything is dry before the restoration so there won't be mold or other problems in the future.

I think many called Folksam yesterday due to the little rain that came further south, so the caseworker might not have thought it all the way through.

The current situation is that I've torn down most of it. I just realized that the room was renovated in 2018 by the previous owner in an insurance case, leakage from the roof... so I'm currently on hold with two different companies because I think this might be something that should have been addressed then but was overlooked since water has now come in again.
