Hello dear forum members!

I'm on a desperate hunt for 6 mm architrave. I can't for the life of me find WHERE I can buy it. The market is flooded with 8 mm. But I MUST have 6 mm, preferably white-foiled or painted, it doesn't matter which.

Please help me! It's the last thing I have left in my BIG kitchen renovation.

Grateful for a quick response (as soon as possible).

A clarification... home improvement store/lumberyard in southern Skåne or on the Internet requested.

Buy 8mm and plane down. It must cost a fortune to drive around and look. Trim strips usually aren't very precise with the measurements either. Why does it have to be 6mm?

I've put renovation plasterboard on the walls and want to make the door casings fit in a sensible way. I've tried latex/silicone caulk (not satisfactory).

Trim works just as well. The problem is that I've been around to consumer building stores (like Bauhaus etc.) and all they have is 8 mm.

Maybe I'll have to try planing. Maybe Optimera Trävaruhus can offer something?

A carpentry factory in your area should be able to help you, or do you have a friend with a better table saw?
I always buy special moldings from a carpentry factory and it's not many kronor more expensive than the building stores.

Finding this in any of the German all-purpose stores seems unlikely to me, it should instead be through something more serious in the industry...

Fredricssons trä in Arlöv or Beijer Bygg for example...

Otherwise, I think 8mm will work well too, along with a little latex in the small gap against the gypsum, and then you just paint everything...

paul, now I'm attacking you:D:D
when constructing, you should always try to build WITHOUT soft joints and such crap.
it cracks and it isn't nice.

so you need to use something that's 6mm?
buy 2 normal doorframes, use the rip saw and set it to 6 mm.
you get 2 pieces from one frame with a nice bevel on the reveal.
nail it with the list gun.
put on the frames and pull them in 3 mm so it *sits* a bit.
simple and cheap.
we do this if there isn't a reveal board to rip from.
privately, I would do this and have done in my bathroom, etc.

paul: we're friends hehehe

Hahaha...

Oh yes...

Of course you're right, but if he can't get hold of 6mm and doesn't have a table saw, there aren't many options...

Not everyone has the equipment that you and I have.. ;)

Apologies for bumping a 14-year-old thread, but if someone like me googles 6mm thread bump, this thread comes up and there was no solution in the thread.

Now in 2024, there is a supplier in Stockholm selling 6mm oak molding when I needed it, so if someone comes across this thread via Google, you have the solution here;

Not to be a know-it-all, but a smyglist was requested, and you're linking to a joint list 6mm, which I already mentioned 14 years ago higher up in the thread that was available for purchase. ;)

Haha, double typical! I thought I was being helpful! Thanks then 😆
