Thank you very much for all the responses! Very interesting reading. Now I at least have an idea of what might be in the walls. Additional insulation won't be considered until it's time to change the panel anyway.

Our Swedish wooden house from '35 is built with Tretex on the inside, two-inch standing tongue-and-groove wood, 1-inch horizontal sections filled with wood chips about 600 mm wide, about 15mm of rough-sawn wood, paper, and exterior paneling. It was very cold on the back when sitting on the sofa against the outer wall with that construction, and when we changed the exterior paneling, we added 80 mm of West Coast insulation. The comfort in the house improved significantly.

Interesting to hear that 80mm made a noticeable difference. 80mm is so little that appearance etc. is not greatly affected, and it's worth noting that insulation effect is not linear, but if I remember correctly, rather quadratic, i.e., the next 80mm insulated only does half of the first, if you insulate double again, it again only has half the effect.
