Hello!

I'm planning to build interior walls on our upper floor and I'm considering how to make the construction as good as possible. The ceilings are high (3.5 m at the ridge - 1.5 m at the exterior wall). I'm unsure how best to set the studs. Either they go all the way up to the ceiling or I break the studs at about 2 m with a cross member and then continue from there. The idea is that it might be sturdier that way?

What do you think? Can I let the studs go all the way up without a cross brace?

Hi Peter,
I'm no expert, but I would guess it depends quite a lot on the dimension of the wall studs. Then it would probably be steadier to let them be the full length and put in noggings instead of breaking, but there is surely someone more knowledgeable than me who knows :-)

Agree with forbo, better to use whole lengths and kortlingar to stiffen the whole thing. You should probably use 45*95 to ensure the wall doesn't become too weak when it gets that tall.
