Hard to come up with a good headline... but I'm going to put up some spontaneous wall paneling on my mom's glazed, extended balcony. Two small problems though. On the "old" part of the wall, there's a mounting bracket about 180x180 mm protruding about 20mm from the wall, and the extension part of the balcony is about 18mm "further in" than the old part. Attaching a quick little sketch.

The flat iron will simply have to remain visible. The panel will go around it, and the iron will be painted in matching colors. But how would you make a nice transition to the new part? Or is it best to try to build up with gypsum? 9+9mm then... or? :)

I would probably have done like you, used 2 9mm plasterboards or even better first a 9 mm plywood and then 9 mm plasterboard, then you have a bit better material behind when you are nailing.
