Hello!

How do you build an air gap on the house gable, that is, the front of the building?

The house has high ceilings, i.e., an insulated roof.

Horizontal paneling with vertical nailing battens.

Thank you so much for the help!!!

What do you want to achieve?

The front side is usually the side facing the road, and thus can be both the long side and the gable side.

How is the wall constructed? Technically, you take down the panel, install some form of wind protection, then battens on the existing studs and nail the panel back up. Mouse band at the bottom and a gap at the top between the panel and the roof.

No but I'm thinking about the house gable.

Sure, the air can come in from underneath, but there's no exit?

Made a picture :D

Thanks!!

  • Gable end of a house with airflow diagram; arrows show air entering at the base and red lines indicate structure, with no visible air exit.
Ok. So there is an air gap behind the panel, but no gap at the top? Is it not that the gap in the wall connects with the gap between the eaves and the ridge?

Aha! So that's how the air gap at the front (gable) should connect with the air gap between the eaves and ridge?

That's not how my carpenter did it, I'll ask him to fix it.

I would appreciate if someone has any construction example of how it can look?

Thank you very much!!!!

I don't know if it's supposed to be like that, just that it might be the case if you don't have any visible column.
