I have a utility hall in the form of an extension to my house, and I'm planning to renovate this space as it's quite shabby. I'll have the electrical wiring redone and re-insulate the interior wall from the inside, etc.
But the ceiling, how would you go about it? It's not ventilated today, would you create an air gap between the sheathing and the insulation (as is standard today)? If so, how would you do it?
The left wall is the old exterior wall and is thus now an interior wall.
My thought:
Make holes in the upper edge of the outer wall for air, battens on the joists, hardboard that doesn't reach all the way to the old exterior wall where the air can turn (or does it not?), then insulation, etc... Cover the old exterior wall (at least the upper edge with wind paper)?
