Trying to clarify whether I should install a vapor barrier on the subfloor before laying the parquet, it seems there are varying opinions on this.

The house was built in 1977 with a crawl space, subfloor, and insulated beams. Previously, parquet was laid directly on the insulated beams without a vapor barrier, but now during renovations, I've read that it probably should be there, for example according to Tarkett's installation instructions and certain threads here.

There will be no underfloor heating below the parquet, and the crawl space is not heated.

Should I install a vapor barrier on the subfloor before laying the new parquet, or are there any risks with it?

Does it make a difference whether the crawl space has a vapor barrier (above the "sand")?

Extremely grateful for answers!
