No reason to worry! It's fine to cut the trellis along the red line you have in mind.
To clarify, as there seems to be some confusion for TS. It's not the "thick post" that is the issue but the landing on the half-floor. It needs to be supported at the corner that isn't connected to a wall.
That's it, along with the fact that a beam structure isn't supported by a trellis, as Justus means.
