Uninsulated concrete slab smell
My experience is unfortunately that it even settles in the walls, even though the material was only on the floor. The smell is very volatile and settles in most things.J Jens5 said:I rented a concrete grinder (both a walk-behind and a handheld one) and ground everything away, a really tough job but still satisfying to get it done.
After that, the walls were sanded and repainted. Finally, I installed a subfloor with mechanical ventilation.
Has there been any difference? Yes, it's probably a little better, but not completely satisfactory yet. Or it might be too early to tell since everything was finished now in October.
Our plan is to sand the floor and walls to make it smooth, then ventilate both floor and walls.
How many mm/cm did you grind off the floor?
How many mm did you sand off the walls?
Yes, unfortunately, that's how it is, took smell samples of the wall material but didn't notice any particular smell there.M martin991 said:My experience is unfortunately that it also settles in the walls, even though the material was only against the floor. It's hard to say how much I sanded on the floor, maybe 5 mm. On the walls, it was the painter who sanded down the surface, maybe the same or a little less there.
I used a floor grinder for concrete, maybe a concrete mill would have been more effective depending on how deep you want to go.M martin991 said:My experience is unfortunately that it also settles in the walls, even though the material was only on the floor.
