Time to do something about the garage floor. (workshop). The surface today is quite rough, with a grainy texture sloping towards the drain placed in the middle. I want a smooth floor and plan to remove the drain. The entire floor needs to be leveled, but especially around the drain.

I have looked into self-leveling compound and found Ardex K301, which doesn't require surface treatment. Does anyone have experience with this product? I am also considering painting the floor, but of course, I need to level the entire floor before I can do that. How does self-leveling compound work with paint?

I've considered tiles but prefer a completely flat floor without joints.

Appreciate any opinions and tips. The slab was cast in 2003 and is untreated today.
