I've searched the forum for a problem similar to mine, but it's hard to find something that fits - and that I understand. There's a lot of discussion about underfloor heating and tiles, insulation here and there, and I'm not really following...
I want to convert a garage, that is located on the basement level "in the old way," into a teenager's room. Do you think it's possible? The double doors have been bricked up previously and a window has been installed instead. There are radiators, but I would like to have underfloor heating in there. Currently, it's a concrete floor and plastered walls, not painted.
Has anyone done something similar and can give a novice some advice in the beginning...

Probably, your floor is completely uninsulated, i.e., the concrete is poured directly on the substrate. Installing underfloor heating would become a significant energy thief, so you would need to add about 15-20 cm of insulation under the underfloor heating. If you have ample ceiling height, you can lay this on top of the existing floor. If you have limited ceiling height, it would likely be the same effort as in the threads where the floor is demolished, dug out, insulated, and a new slab is poured.
