Hello!
I am planning to build another workshop directly adjacent to the barn where I currently stay and am considering various solutions, trying to make some sort of calculation on material costs. The space will be small (max 30m2), and I am thinking of casting a concrete slab and am wondering about how the transition between the slab and wall is usually made. If I cast a slab with an edge around it, can I then build the wall directly on the slab, or do I risk rot or similar problems? Something like this:

I might insulate the walls eventually.

You place sill paper or sill insulation or sill protection between the concrete and the sill.

The edge can be cast or built with masonry.
Either masonry is done first to act as a mold for casting, or the slab is cast first and then a layer of suitable leca block is built.

You don't need a version with an upturn since you have a lip/edge around the plate that prevents moisture.

Perfect! Thank you!
