The tracks in the ceiling plaster I want to cover up to get a completely smooth ceiling. I understand that I need to fill them, but is it best to fill-apply mesh tape-fill again? Damn job, but what won't you do to make it look nice???
Hello,
I spackled (without tape). Then I wallpapered with microlite and painted white.
I am very pleased with the result. The spackling doesn't need to be completely perfect since the microlite hides any mistakes.

If you are renovating, I understand your question and agree with EliasAgrell's response, but if you are installing new ones, I am puzzled. (I know that Timell used this as a filling recess on TV...)Tuffelust said:
Do you mean the short planks, i.e., ceiling gypsum that is 600 wide? If so, it's not intended for those joints to be filled with putty.
If you want to install a smooth ceiling, Norgips plan is a better option. It is puttied with tape in the usual way as there is a filling recess on all four sides.

We did the same on an old ceiling as cracks kept appearing. It turned out great (no cracks so far).EliasAgrell said:
If I were to lay new, I would do just as ElisArell.
