Built a house 11 years ago with decorative woodwork on the veranda and balcony. The wood I used was of poor quality and has started to rot on the balcony railing and needs to be redone. Back then, I used a drill and a jigsaw of a good model. However, I find that the results weren't as even and symmetrical as I wanted because it's difficult to achieve precision when using a handheld electric jigsaw. Does anyone have tips on good tools for this job and where to find quality wood? Go to Norrland and buy the virke :).

Norrland is indeed a large part of Sweden but a bit too far for me to travel to pick up boards. Does anyone know of a good dealer in the Stockholm area?

Bring a moisture meter, check closely packed growth rings, choose each board individually. Dismiss low-price lumberyards immediately. Don't waste time there.
Tools? Perhaps a hand router with a copying function. My son spends 80% of the time making good templates/support strips/patterns before he really starts using the router.

Thanks for the tips. I will check out the thing with the handöverfräs.:)
